We’ve gone back and spoken to students who completed the Discover Social Sciences programme and who decided to stay at Sheffield for their degrees. Here’s how Sarah answered her 5 Minutes, 5 Questions.
What are you studying?
Where are you from?
I’m from Worksop originally and I went to sixth form in Kiveton.
Why did you take part in the programme?
I took part in the Discover Social Sciences programme in 2013-2015. I wanted to get an experience of university life before actually going to university.
What was the best thing about the programme?
The best thing about the programme for me was being introduced to university lifestyle and what it would entail, as I had no friends or family that had been to university.
The programme helped me during my A Levels and helped me through the university application process itself, and during all of this my confidence in meeting and working with new people increased.
What is the best thing about being a Sheffield Student?
The best thing about being a student at Sheffield is how much of a community feel the university has. As well as your studies being important, so is your social life and what you do outside of academics, and I feel the University of Sheffield really promotes that and it makes the University experience much more enjoyable!
