5 Minutes, 5 Questions: Tom Jarvis

Tom Jarvis is a new to US in Schools Mentoring this year and the winner of December’s Mentor of the Month. On his mentees first visit to the University, Tom’s confidence and enthusiasm clearly engaged all mentees from Ecclesfield School about the HE and Student Life. Here’s how he answered his 5 Minutes5 Questions:

December 2017 - Tom Jarvis (Ecclesfield)Where are you from:
Lincoln.
What are you Studying:
Accounting and Financial Management.
Where are you mentoring:
Ecclesfield School.
What made you want to become a mentor:
I really wanted to do something worthwhile as a job, and thought I would be able to put my skills to good use. Looked forward to helping young people enhance their chances and help to teach them about higher education.
What is the best thing about mentoring so far and what are you most looking forwards to:
The best thing is how engaged my mentees have been and how I have seen my mentees develop already as they become more comfortable with me and we start working on their targets. I am most looking forward to seeing how my mentees got on with their research projects.
